Welcome to Vickers Schoolhouse, a restored 1891 one-room schoolhouse where historic character meets thoughtful modern comfort.

Set on open prairie just outside Paola, this quiet retreat offers space to slow down, reconnect, and experience a different rhythm of life. Original architectural details remain at the heart of the home, while modern updates make your stay comfortable, easy, and inviting.

Once serving local students for nearly a century, the Schoolhouse has been carefully reimagined through a series of renovations, blending preservation with intentional design. Today, it offers a unique stay that feels both nostalgic and refreshed.

Spend your days exploring nearby wineries, orchards, micro-farms, and scenic trails, or simply stay in and enjoy the prairie sky. Evenings are perfect for gathering around the fire ring or unwinding in the hot tub beneath café lights.

Inside, the main level features a queen bedroom, two full bathrooms, and a fully equipped kitchen. Two additional queen bedrooms are located in cozy loft spaces accessed by ladder-style stairs, adding character and charm while preserving the historic structure.

The historic Vickers Schoolhouse is peaceful, beautiful & exceptionally relaxing. It is exquisite, inside & out, & its historic charm has been lovingly preserved.

We enjoyed the fully stocked kitchen, coffee/tea bar, snacks, comfortable bed, great shower & various outdoor seating areas, including a fabulous grill. 

We appreciated the Schoolhouse being dog - friendly, & we loved relaxing outside with our dog, & enjoying the spectacular Kansas sunsets, as the view is truly gorgeous!

Lara & Tony are phenomenal hosts, who go above & beyond in every way for their guests! 

We have stayed at various AirBNBs around the country, but none as unique as the Vickers Schoolhouse! 

Everyone we met in the area was exceptionally friendly & welcoming, & we look forward to our next visit!
